From casual uses like discovering the hot spots of your city, all the way to allowing freedom of expression and promoting democracy, Umanity aims to build a global and instant archive of snapshots around the world. We were inspired to build Umanity after the world-changing events of 2011, starting with the Tunisian uprising and the tragic Japan tsunami.
Umanity is like a real-time crowd-sourced Google Street View. You get to see the world through the eyes of everyone. The news do not depend anymore exclusively on the lenses of a few large media corporations.
Umanity is accessible through its iPhone app, available on the Apple App Store, as well as on the Nokia Ovi store and on http://umanity.in.
Tip: the umanity.in website is smart! Type the location after the “.in/” to view photos from that location, e.g. umanity.in/montreal. You can also search for a topic by putting in a hash tag, for example: umanity.in/#sxswi.
If you missed our launch party, check out the great article over at Montreal Tech Watch.
We’d love to hear from you! Send us a word at hello@umanity.in. We hope you enjoy using Umanity!
